Catherine Keener does a good job as Maryanne Stewart Arthur’s Lawyer. Steve Coogan does a good job as Paddy Meyers a popular TV personality that interviews Arthur. Harry Lawtey does a good job as Harvey Dent the newly elected district attorney that wants to bring Arthur to justice. The writing in the film is good. The film is an interesting tale of two crazy characters finding each other and dealing with their actions. The film is first and foremost a musical and the musical sections are done well. The film feels like an old school musical and is structed well and feels unique. The film acts as a criticism of the reception of the first film. the Joker is not a hero, he is a dammed psychopathic individual, and holding him up on a pedestal is dangerous. The film criticises the reaction to the fans of the frost film with people relating to the Joker and that you shouldn’t idolise bad people. The character of the joker in the film is interesting. He takes of his own mask and exposes himself as just a crazy looser and a false matter and works as a good character deconstruction.
