About Me

Falmouth University

Throughout my university education I have worked on several film projects in a crew primary as an editor. The first project I worked on was a horror film called Face Off which I was the sound designer on. Within this project I was responsible for the recording of the audio of the films using boom mic and boom pole, I also edited all the sound design work on Avid Pro Tools. As well as this I gathered stock horror film music to use in the project.

My second project was the first time I was an editor on a film which was for a film called Lola. With this project I was responsible for cutting the shots to together in such a way to make a coherent and naturally following piece of work, with my edit I used Premier pro which became my primary editing software throughout university. As well as editing I was responsible for the colour grading of the film and used a mixture of naturalistic and neon lighting for the colour grade.

In my second year at University, I chose to pursue editing as my practical vocation at university. In my editing part of the course, I re-edited a scene from the film Wilderness, as well as creating my own experimental peace of work from stock footage. These projects showcased my talents in both narrative and experimental based editing and how I can incorporate different skills and styles on order to create different edits. As well as this, I also was meant to be the editor on a film called seconds. However, due to Covid-19 the production was shut down resulting in me editing two scenes from the film.

My last year at Falmouth University was spent as the editor on the film Lightseer. For this edited I utilised a primarily minimalistic editing techniques with long single take sequences, with a minimalistic colour grade. Throughout this production many issues occurred, such as the films being delayed multiple times and myself and the director having to apply for deadline extensions. This resulted in myself having a very limited time to edit the footage. To make matters worse my director then had to leave the location we were working in for personal reasons. This results in myself creating a separate edit to the director as well as picking up the sound design work in order to complete the project. I was very proud of the finished product, as I managed to complete the film to a high standard, this allowed me to receive a 1st in my final film project with a 2:1 as my overall grade.
