John Wick: Chapter 4 is a 2023 American action thriller film directed by Chad Stahelski the film stars Keanu Reeves, Donnie Yen, Bill Stargard, Laurence Fishburne, Hiroyuki Sanada, Shamier Anderson, Lance Reddick, Rina Sawayama, Scott Adkins, Clancy Brown, and Ian McShane. The film centres around John Wick an ex-hitman dragged back into the fold that sets out to get revenge on the high table and those that left him for dead. John Wick for is a great film and a fitting d=finale to the series the film is an action-packed romp with brilliant action scenes and a certain sadness for the character of john wick as he ends his final journey.

The direction in the film is great. All the actors work well with one another. This being the fourth and final film in the main characters al have great chemistry with each other. All the main players in the franchise come back and really bounce off each other well creating a family like dynamic. John’s relationship to charters such as the Bowery King a sort of friend is portrayed nicely here with a respect towards each other.  Charon the concierge gets given more to do in the film and has a well done but sad end for his character. Winston the hotel manager acts as a sort of father figure to John Wick and their interactions throughout the film create some nice moments. The mood of the film is also more dark, gritty, and emotionally driven than previous instalments watching the film it really does feel like John wicks last waltz. The style of the film continues the trend of the previous. The films stylised nature is very much here with incredible cinematography and lighting making the film a visual sceptical.

The acting in the film is great. Keanu Reeves does a great job as John Wick. He nails the hardened hitman persona of Wick and the martial arts, stunt and gun work he does in the film is incredible. As well as this he interjects the character with some humanity in his final outing and adds a bit of depth to the character. Donnie Yen does a good job as Caine a blind assassin and forma friend of John Wicks who plays both a great a threatening villain as well as having a change throughout the move with good emotion driving his character. Bill Skarsgard goes a good job as Marquis Vincent de Grramont a powerful high table member whose position is challenged by John Wick and creates a good villain to conquer. Laurence Fishburne does a good job as the Bowery King who has built up his friendship with John Wick over the films and now acts as a help for both him and John the get their revenge. Lance Reddick does a good job as Charon the concierge of the hotel and is just as smooth as every in the film as well as having a tragic conclusion.

The writing in the film is great wight its crazy amazing action scenes, the film is so stylised that there is defiantly a somewhat tough and cheek nature to the series despite its serious surface. The film also interjects a lot of emotion and characterisation being John Wicks final outing they really give his character time to shine and make you feel sad by the end. Other characters are also given a more human nature to them. Chain for example and his relationship with his daughter make him more than just a standard villain and interjects him with humanity. It is these little bits of characterisation for the secondary characters that really stand out and make this film so great.

The cinematography in the film is great. All the action scenes are well shot with stable camera movements and static cameras making sure that you see the action happing on screen. There is a great use of lighting and interesting visual imagery throughout the film which makes these films unique and sets them apart from standard action films.

The special effect in the film is great. The film using practical effects is great from the blood splatter to the gun shots everything feels real within the film. The stunt work is also incredible the choreography of the fight scenes is amazing and injects allot of energy in these scenes making this film have some of the best fight scenes I have seen in a while.

John Wick: Chapter 4 is a fitting conclusion to the series. The film carries on the tradition of incredible action but injects this with a bit more depth and emotion for the character. Making this a worthy finally for John Wicks final outing.
