Chicken Run: Dawn of the Nugget is a 2023 British stop-motion animated comedy film directed by Sam Fell and written by Karey Kirkpatrick, John O’Farrell and Rachel Tunnard. A sequel to Chicken Run (2000), the film was produced by Aardman Animations and stars the voices of Thandiwe Newton, Zachary Levi, Bella Ramsey, Romesh Ranganathan, David Bradley, Daniel Mays, Jane Horrocks, Imelda Staunton, Lynn Ferguson, Josie Sedgwick-Davies, Peter Serafinowicz, Nick Mohammed, and Miranda Richardson. It tells the story of Rocky and Ginger who led a rescue mission when their daughter has been abducted to a highly advanced poultry farm run by their old enemy Mrs. Tweedy. Chicken run: Dawn of the Nugget is a fun entertaining film that fans of the original will enjoy.

The direction in the film is good. The original cast is back together, and it feels like they haven’t missed a beat. The voice actors all bounce of and interact with each other very well as well the new cast of characters is also shown to be good editions to the story. The mood of the film is good. The film has a fun over the top light-hearted nature that work well with the film its is as well as serious moments with the more dramatic parts of the film. The film has a good over the top funny style to it that works well and really enhances the comedy.

The acting in the film is good Thandiwe Newton does a good job as Ginger the leader of the chickens headstrong and what’s to protect the others. Zachary Levi does a good job as Rocky gingers husband that gives some good laughs in the film. Bella Ramsey does a good job as Molly Gingers daughter that wants her own independence and is very much a free spirit. Imelda Staunton does a good job as Bunty a cynical character that doesn’t want to go along with the plane. Lynn Ferguson does a good job as Mac a skittish nerdy chicken that sorts out the technical stuff. David Bradley does a good job as Fowler an elderly chicken and former RAF mascot. Jane Horrocks does a good job as Babs a dumb chicken that can sow. Romesh Ranganathan does a god job as nick a cynical scavenger rat and friend of the chickens and Daniel Mays does a good job as Fetcher Micks business parent that is more comedic and friends with the chickens. Peter Serafinowicz does a good job as Reginald Smith the owner of Sir Eat-a-Lots. Nick Mohammed does a good job as Dr. Fry the scientist that is Mrs. Tweedys second husband. Miranda Richardson does a god job as Melisha Tweedy the former owner of the chickens that seeks revenge.

The writing in the film is good. The film is funny throughout giving good laughs through the dialogue as well as some clever visual gags. However, like the original there is a dark element to the film and the film knows when to get serious with the story. The film also has good maternal angle to it with film ultimately being about the ginger being a loving but overprotective mother and Molly’s need to fly the nest. The film also brings Ginger and Mrs Tweedy back together for another standoff. The cinematography in the film is good. The film looks good, and everything looks clear within the film. The film using quite complex and impressive shots for stop motion animation witch really makes the film seem cinematic. The animation is great. The stop motion animation is very well and does an incredibly charming. The fact that this style of animation is still going is great and the animation of the film is amazing.

Chicken Run: Dawn of the Nugget is a fun entertaining film. Is it some kind of animation masterpiece no but it is a highly enjoyable film that fans of the original will get a kick out of.
