The film stars Margot Robbie, Ryan Gosling, America Ferrera, Kate McKinnon, Issa Rae, Rhea Pearlman, and Will Ferrell. Barbie is a fun and interesting film that is as entertaining as it is surprising. The direction in the film is good. All the actors in the film have great chemistry with each other and bounce off each other well. The actors have at first a weird artificialness to the way the interact with one another with is intentional within the plastic world of barbie land. But as the film goes on and they enter the real world this relationship changes and the dynamics between the characters become more complex. The mood of the film is an interesting one. At first the film has an intentional artificial happiness and innocence about it to reflect the nature of barbie. However, as the film goes on reality steeps in more by the film becomes a lot more emotional by the end. The style of the film is good. The film has an artificial style to it as the world of Barbie land is purposely made to be fake, however with barbie going into the real world the film becomes and an interesting style within the film. The acting in the film is good. Margot Robbie does a good job as Barbie. She plays a stereotypical barbie character that goes through a journey of self-discovery throughout the film and changes becoming more of a person and she has a lot of depth to her character. Ryan Gosling does a good job as Ken, he gets a lot of the best comedy moments in the film and is genially funny. America Ferrera does a good job as Gloria she plays a Mattel employee that helps Barbie out on her journey and goes on a character arc of her own. Kate McKinnon does a good job as weird Barbie a crazy character that helps Barbie out on her journey. Issa Rae does a good job as Pretendent Barbie the head of the Barbies that tries to help the main Barbie out throughout the film. Rhea Perlman does a good job as Ruth Handler the co-founder of Mattel that has interesting reactions with Barbie. Will Ferrell does a god job as the CEO of Mattel that is the main villain of the film and gives a over the top performance. The writing in the film is good. The film is very fun and entertaining. The film is indelibly amusing with lots of good comedy throughout the film. The film also has a lot of depth to it as well the film containing a lot of good themes surrounding existentialism and meta narratives making for a very surreal and fun film. The cinematography is good the film has an artificial look to it which is cool. The special effects are good the film very much feels artificial, and it really works. Barbie is a fun entertaining film that has a surprising amount of depth to it.
