Anatomia Extinction is a 1995 splatterpunk film written and directed by Yoshihiro Nishimura. The film follows a man who witnesses a murder on the subway and is paused by the killer who wants him to join a group called the engineers whose task is to recue japans population. Anatomia Extinction is a commentary on overpopulation in Japan and the effects this can have within modern Japanese society.

The film starts with the salaryman sounded by a sea of people on a train, as the film then transitions to red lighting and smoke as he yells. This showcases the overpopulation problem in Japan and the stress and rage caused by this overcrowding issue. He them stands still in a sea of people as an accouchement calls out the congestion updates and placeless that are percentages above the capacity. This shows the problem of a growing population within the film and how fears and arise from this ever growing swam of people. He ends up throwing up from the stress due to overpopulation, the film then plays an announcement about the benefits of a privatised police department that seemingly rules all. The film shows how overpopulation creates a dystopian world where the government must take matters into the own hands. Sex is used as a mindless primal comedy to calm him and other people down. A news announcement talks about the population rising and getting worse. This has caused a rising aging population and a mandatory retirement system with the elderly. This stress of overpopulation in japan showcases itself as causing violence as the character gets a tumour gun created form his stress.

The film again showcases dystopian society with privatised police department and kills people the salaryman in exposing his repressed rage that he tries to hide. He then sees a transvestite who gives him the eye, and he tries to ignore him showcasing the stress of over population in society. This fear is again manifested as when the main guy is stalked by a transvestite, he then sees a blood trial lading to a transvestite’s dead body being dragged away. This shows how the overpopulation problem in japan must be controlled by mass death, this assimilation of society is further shown by blood pumping and surreal flashes. A guy approaches and stalks the main guy. This is seemingly a false flag until the guy approaches him liking him to a rat. He holds a knife to his throat as the guy asks the salary man to join them removing his skin and showing his organs. This showcases the overpopulation of society as humans are likened to rats all the same create wanting to be joined together into one singular organism due to the overpopulation in Japanese society. The salaryman then runs away as the guy stalks him. The salaryman then attacks the guy who acts like a malfunctioning robot seemingly dying, disappearing before he is replaced by a body horror monster. Through overpopulation humanities new duty to combat this is to become a new organism as the salaryman is a rat with a new organ inside of him as he will be able to become part of the whole. The salaryman becomes out of it. He walks through an overpopulated city in a daze as he watches his computer. This showcases the fears of technological dominance in japan however the main theme of the film is the stress of over pollution and how that stress can affect a person biologically. This anxiety is shown with riots on the TV linking to the idea that japans population must be cut down. The TV comes alive stating people must reduce the population and become part of the system, showcasing the fears of overpopulation in Japanese society.

The salaryman seizures due to the stresses of an overly populated japan as he sees a pool of blood showcasing his assimilation into the organism of society. From this he then runs through the streets as the news announcement high lights dangerous gasses in high populated areas. This again showcases the fears of overpopulation in japan and how society must deal with overpopulation through mass death. He then goes into a bar were people talk about being here is like being forced into slavery and that people are not working for their own as there are to many people. Everything within the film is overcrowded reactional faculties as they state that war would reduce the population. This again shows the dangers of mass population in Japan and how the government wants to kill people to as population control. News reports state that there are 7 unsolved killings are possibly due to stress showcasing the dangers of over population in society, this is further shown by a dream sequence of him being covered with mice as he runs away showcasing overpopulation destroying society. He inserts criminal data files into a computer as he tries to find murder cases relating to unsolved murders with people killing for no reason. He ends up finding an article showcasing that he murders are related to stress by overcrowding like overcrowded rats, becoming aggressive forming gangs, and raping female rats and eating babies. This demonstrates the dangers of an overly populated society in japan as this stress of overcrowding as this stress results in the members of society eating themselves like rats destroying society.

He then runs away from the stalker guy again. He ends up finding a skinned woman that states that you must find pleasure in pain as she licks and bites his fingers. This shows that through the stress of overpopulation people turns to extreme circumstances to find outlets for their worries. News reports state about reducing the population with war to create a stress-free life, this demonstrates the fears of overpopulation in Japanese society. The salary man ends ups transforming in the street, due to stress of overpopulation and modern society. The hustle and bustle are overwhelming as he has a breakdown as other crazier as the killing counties with the news talking about it, showcasing the film criticizes the overpopulation of Japanese society. He ends up wandering the streets in a daze and seizes due to the stress of overpopulation, he then ends up seeing girls in the area and becomes mad with lust and desire as the blood links to his need for sex and violence. He then stops Infront of a police car seemingly out of it. He ends up going crazy from the overpopulation and stress of society as he is beaten by the police and then he kills them. he then mutates, his mutation is ultimately a metaphor for the stress of overpopulation within japan. He ends up mutating a body horror gun arm which he uses to kill the police officers as a metaphor for the stresses of the overpopulation of society. He then races through the city killing everyone to deal with the stresses of overpopulation as he sees the TV talking to him about scoring points like his playing a game. He ends up crashing his car as the police surrounded him. The police see that he escaped but they see he is in his apartment by the shot of a bloody hand. They storm his apartment and find corpses of one of the people he killed the mutated salaryman as he sees them as mice that need to be cut down. This showcases the fear of overpopulation in Japanese society and the desire to control the population. The film ends with other members of japan cracking under the stress of over population, mutating, and killing people as the film ends with a congestion update.

Anatomia Extinction is a film about the fear and anxieties of overpopulation in Japanese society and how this fear create a violent mutation of normal people wishing to destroy people and by extension society.
