Student Bodies is a1981 American parody slasher comedy film written and directed by Mickey Rose. The film follows students being killed by the breather a serial killer who targets high school students. Student Bodies in an interesting parody on the slasher genre commenting on the conventions of the slasher film.
Student Bodies is ultimately a parody of slasher films as the film starts showing different classic horror movie days, as there is a POV shot with heavy breathing done by the killer in comedic way. There is good irony to the film with cheesy dialogue and a cat meowing being a dog. There are words on the screen saying the doors are unlocked and a funny bit where the killer is breathing down the phone. There is a good use of overly dramatic music starting and stopping with no pay off as the phone constantly rings in a funny way, ass the phone oozes seamen. There is a good use of obvious product placement and comedic horror fake outs with the boyfriend. There is a god use of comedy as the killer finds a puzzlement of weapons and chooses a paperclip, as the killer then gets out of breath walking up the stair as he has gum stick to his shoe. The film has intently bad acting as the film is very meta as the film talks about horror films with ironic dialogue. Her mother screaming about her daughter not washing the dishes despite the murderer scene with intentionally bad dialogue. All the characters are clearly horny. Cheerleaders dance at the funeral as the creepy guy says sex kills as the headmaster says to be suspicious. The film flashes up words saying the window is unlocked as the killer kills the girl with a toy horse as the film is a parody of the slasher genre.
A character goes to his dead girlfriend thinking she’s ready for sex when he is lasso killed linking to the humour as the boyfriend and people think obvious corpses are still alive. The film has over the top funny dialogue to it this meta narrative is shown with arrows pointing to obvious things in the movie. The film has subtle funny dialogue used with a perverted killers POV. The film has a good reincorporation of the gum joke the film parody the genre with the weird Ralph Friday the 13th like character is a kind of normal guy. The killer shown sown matching with the music in a parade as the teens have sex inside of the parade bull. The film shown is parody nature as the black girl is killed with eggplant the title of the film then also gets dropped in a meta like nature. The film breaks the fourth wall talking about the r rating and that this is not a r rated film but then the film breaks the fourth wall to say fuck so the film gest its r rating. The film has a funny bit where they think that the girl is the murderer and quickly say that she will be sent to jail or a shrink. All the suspects seemly have wacky motives to being the killer as the killer uses a rubber chicken to hide their voice. Toby the main girl talks to the shrink who is a pervert and wants to be famous, he talks about sex and psychology in a funny way as they talk about sex in slasher films. There is good slapstick humour in the film with the blind guy wheeling the wheelchair guy into a wall. Toby is announced to possibly be the killer over the loudspeaker alienating everyone in a funny way. A guy throws a tomato at the speaker which hits the principle. The female teacher wants the disabled worker to take the blame full of this if push comes to shove as no-one cares about him.
There is humour of classic American school past times of football common in slasher films. The perverted teacher wants to have an excuse to check out the kids to kill them. the teenagers want to make out, but rubbish keeps falling from the bleachers, Jan dies as the boyfriend doesn’t realise and gest killed as the other girls gets knocked out. The guy makes everyone go home as they must feel out a form for dead person in a funny way. There is funny is dumb humour as body farts and has an erection as there is humour as killer does sign language as they talk. The killer breaks the fourth wall stating that they have lost the picture as the screen shows static TV asking the killer is showing the suspects. One of the girls also chats up the pervert principle and gets the killed. There are genially funny lines off dialogue and good dumb pun jokes. There is good meta forth wall moments breaking the text of the screen. There is also an interesting use of over the top are sound effects for the girl’s death. Her boyfriend sees she’s dead and states he will screw her for old times’ sake as the killer kills him with a bin bag. The teacher then talks to the killer in a nonchalant way making him clean the saw, but the killer just knocks him dead. The film is full of visual gags and obvious clues. The film uses obvious evidence with names on the photos like slut showing funny motivation as the girl finds the headmasters pictures.
The headmaster comes into the office as the girls talks her way out of it as eh strips himself to his underpants and tattoo as he is almost naked underneath is clothes and no girl noticed him. the film parodies the idea of sex being bad. The teacher attacks her with the trophy, but he slips on marbles, gets impaled and dies, as it turns out all the teachers are in on it. The principle jumps back up from the dead seemly alive but then dies, as her boyfriend is killed by the female teacher. When the plot twist is revealed, it makes no sense linking to the humour, as it turns out al the teachers are in on it as they chase after the maim n girl in a comedic way. The film has a surreal ending as zombies chase after her she then smashes through the window. At the end of the film, she wakes up as it’s all a dream it then turns out that the boyfriend is a killer as at her funeral her hands rise from the grave strangling him.
Student Bodies is a good parody of the slasher genre commenting and parodying on the conventions of the genre.
