The Continental: From the World of John Wick is an American crime-action-drama television miniseries created by Greg Coolidge, Kirk ward and Shawn Simmons and is a spin off in the John Wick franchise.  The show tells the story of Winston Scott an alternative 1970s in how he becomes the owner of the New York continental hotel a safe place where business cannot take place. The continental is a great, fun, action packed TV show and acts as a fitting prequal to the John Wick franchise.

The direction in the film in the film is great. All the actors in the show bounce off one another and act great.  The protagonists becoming a rag tag team of very likable hitman that are enjoyable watching. The mood in the film is an interesting one. On one hand the film comes across as a gritty action packed shown complete with a serious emotional tone. There is very much a sense of humour throughout the show. The characters are all very likable allowing for a very entertaining cast of characters. The style of the film is ultimately cool. The film has a very over the top feel to it that works with a stylistic tone to create a very cool tone.

The acting in the film is good. Mel Gibson has a good job as Cormac O’Connor the man that runs the continental hotel. He plays a cruel sadistic mob boss like character who runs the hotel and is genially threatening in his delivery. Colin Woodell does a good job as Winston Scott. He plays a younger character that still has his innocence that shows his dark decent into the underworld. Mishel Prada does a good job as KD. She plays a detective trying to get to the truth of Frankie’s story.  Ben Robinson does a good job as Frankie Winston’s older brother. He plays a gruff big brother type character that does seem to genuinely care for Winston. Hubert Point-Du does a good job as Miles. He plays a hitman that is helping her sister out with a revenge quest. Nhung Kate plays Yen Frankie’s wife. She is a character that hates Winston at first but the two of them have to okra together to get revenge. Jessica Allain does a good job as Lou she plays a character that must work with Winston to bring down the continental. Ayomide Adegun does a good job as Charon he plays a younger version of the desk man in John Wick as is still as smooth although nervous and not sure of the criminal world.

The writing in the show is good. The show presents an interesting story with the prequal of Winston and how he came to be the hotel owner. The show is just as over the top, entertaining but also intriguing like the films with all comes together in an engaging enjoyable story. The cinematography. In the show is good. Everything is well shot partially the action scenes that really sell the action and make it clear what’s going on. The show also has some nice shots that makes for a beautiful show at times. The practical effects in the show are good. All the fights and car chases look great with blood muzzle flashes and car being smashed up making for a show that feels big budget.

Overall, The Continental: From the World of John Wick is a good show. It is fun, action packed interesting and serving as a good addition the John Wick universe.
